Gymnastics Floor Music and Songs for Performance Sports
Songs with a story for programs and routines, with what you need to know about lyrics and licensing in each sport.
Can you use songs with lyrics?
| Figure skating (ISU) | Songs with lyrics are allowed: in ice dance since the 1997–98 season, in singles and pairs since 2014–15. |
|---|---|
| Rhythmic gymnastics (FIG) | Songs with lyrics are allowed in a limited number of routines, with appropriate lyrics. Check the current Code of Points. |
| Artistic gymnastics floor (FIG, women) | No sung lyrics: the voice is allowed only as an instrument. Wildlands is also available as an instrumental. |
| Cheerleading | Music must be properly licensed, and mixes or mash-ups need written permission from the rights holders. |
| Color guard and winter guard | Songs with lyrics are widely used. Your show music must be licensed: check your circuit’s rules. |
| Artistic swimming (World Aquatics) | No restriction on the choice of music in the published rules; music clearance rules apply. |
